Assumption Life is marking its 110
th anniversary by establishing the Denis-Losier Scholarship, the Louisbourg Investments Scholarship a nd the Lorraine-LeBlanc Scholarship, all of which are being offered through the Assumption Foundation.
According to André Vincent, President and CEO of Assumption Life, these new scholarships confirm the Company's commitment to post-secondary education and its support for students – the professionals of tomorrow on whom the continued success of our communities depends.
"From the outset, Assumption Life assumed the mission of contributing to education as a means of furthering the development of the Acadian people. As early as 1903, the Company translated this mission into action by establishing the
Caisse écolière, a fund which helped many young Acadians pursue their studies. Today's initiatives are a continuation of these efforts," Mr.Vincent explained.
Since its creation, the Assumption Foundation has awarded more than $4 million in scholarships and donations to teaching institutions. The three new scholarships add to the dozen or so existing scholarships granted annually by the Foundation.

Assumption Life: 110 years of memories and growth
Assumption Life celebrated its actual 110
th birthday on September 8 of this year. The year 2013 is also significant in that it marks 100 years since the Company's head office was established in Moncton.
Originally founded in Waltham, Massachussetts, as
Société l’Assomption, a fraternal benefit society for lost and displaced Acadians, the company relocated its head office to Moncton in 1913. It became a full mutual life insurance company in 1969, adopting the name
Assomption Compagnie Mutuelle d’Assurance-Vie. This transformation also made it possible for Assumption Life to reach new heights in its development, including the establishment, in the early 1990s, of Louisbourg Investments Inc., an investment management firm.
Over the years, Assumption Life became a major player in the finance and insurance industry in the Maritimes and across Canada. Throughout its expansion, the company's goal has remained the same: to be a leader in financial security. With more than 5,000 independent brokers nation-wide and 200 corporate employees, Assumption Life is continuing to develop niche products in a stimulating work environment.
