Assumption Life saddened by the passing of its former CEO, Gilbert Doucet

It is with great sadness that Assumption Life has learned of the passing of Mr. Gilbert Doucet, former CEO of the company from 1985 to 1989. Through his loyalty and generosity, Mr. Doucet, who joined Assumption Life in 1954, has made a mark on the lives of many colleagues and friends.

"On behalf of all employees and members of the Senior Management Team of Assumption Life, I wish to express our deepest condolences to the family of Mr. Gilbert Doucet. Everyone who met Mr. Doucet agrees that he was a joyful and unifying leader who was close to people. His special attention to the well-being of his community has made him a man of compassion, " said Sébastien Dupuis, President and CEO of Assumption Life.

During his 35 years of service with Assumption Life, Mr. Doucet has left his mark on the company with his desire to modernize. He has strengthened Assumption Life's position as a leader in its field and improved the financial soundness of the company.

As CEO, Mr. Doucet has established the Chaire Assomption en administration des affaires, now called the Centre Assomption de recherche et de développement en entrepreneuriat, whose goal is to promote entrepreneurship research and training to business people, in addition to connecting the Acadian and Francophone business community with the Université de Moncton.

Known for his continued community involvement, Mr. Doucet has contributed to many causes, including the promotion of Acadian culture, especially the protection of the French language, the preservation of the Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption Cathedral in Moncton, the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre and the Université de Moncton.

Mr. Doucet published his autobiography – Sur les traces de mes ancêtres et de mes engagements – in 2018, of which Assumption Life is a proud partner.
