Yvète Faucher presents "IMPULSION" at the Assumption Gallery

Yvète Faucher's exhibit "Impulsion" opens today at the Assumption Gallery and continues until the end of August. The title of the exhibit reflects the vibrant colours that create the rhythm, space and light typical of Ms. Faucher's art. Working mainly in acrylics, the artist uses expressive brush and knife strokes to lend character to her paintings. By muting, blending and contrasting lush colours, she imbues each of her pieces with a sense of warmth and comfort.
Inspired by nature, Yvète Faucher's abstracts are inventive, compelling and fluid. The artist says she paints not to portray an external reality but to convey a depth of emotion. Above all, she looks for a dimension, a universe, that resonates with her. Her goal is to capture the soul of whatever she is painting.
Born in Ste-Marie, Ms. Faucher studied in Thetford Mines before beginning a teaching degree at Université Laval, which she completed at the Université de Sherbrooke. She also earned a certificate in Visual Arts. She taught elementary school for 35 years, including 25 years teaching visual arts.
The Assumption Gallery exhibits works of contemporary, modern or popular art, works based on history or folklore and sculptures and photographs by Canadian professional artists. Six two-month exhibits are presented each year. The Gallery is located at 770 Main Street in Moncton, on the ground floor of Assumption Place, and is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Yvète Faucher will be available for interviews at the gallery from 12pm to 2pm on Friday, July 4th.
