Janine Boudreau exhibits at the Assumption Gallery

Janine Boudreau's exhibit Langage d'amour will open at the Assumption Gallery on March4. The Chaleur Region painter portrays her vision of love in this collection of works imbued with warmth and lyricism, which will be on display until the end of April.



For Janine Boudreau, painting is more than just a hobby, it's a necessity. The self-taught artist, whose works are largely inspired by her own photographs, maintains that creation is her lifeblood as well as a means of escape. "When I paint, I forget everything. It's like embarking on a voyage," she explains. "At a certain point, I become one with the canvas I'm creating."



Janine Boudreau imposes no boundaries on her art. She freely alternates between brush and palette knife, and sometimes even uses her hands. Her works germinate in realism, assuming new dimensions as she lets her imagination and creativity run free. "I paint what is around me. I start with the true representation then I exaggerate the features, add character. Creating is a genuine source of pleasure for me," affirms the artist, who has been painting for more than thirty years.



Along with her career as an artist, Janine Boudreau offers painting classes for children and adults at the Galerie Jani-Art in Beresford, New Brunswick. She encourages creative freedom in her students, and says she finds it very fulfilling to share her passion for art through teaching.



In Langage d’amour, the artist explores the many facets of love. Using different characters as subjects and a style at times realist, at times tinged in mystery, she depicts love of self and of others, love of painting and of nature. "Love is important. When you have love, you have everything," concludes Janine Boudreau.



The Assumption Gallery exhibits works of contemporary, modern or popular art, works based on history or folklore and sculptures and photographs by Canadian professional artists. Six two-month exhibits are presented each year. The Gallery is located at 770 Main Street in Moncton, on the ground floor of Assumption Place and is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
